What&#8217;s the relevance? A\u00a0 significant contributing factor to the development of my love of food.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">I just want to share my family\u2019s story about a particular Glamour magazine article, and say thank you for many happy meals, and even more wonderful memories.\u00a0 The first dinner my mother ever cooked for my dad was found in your August, 1976 issue (page 120).\u00a0 A \u201cRomantic Dinner for Two\u201d, written by Anne Semmes,\u00a0 featured Veal Scallopini with Mushrooms, Fettuccine (Alfredo), Sliced Tomatoes with Basil (widely known today as Caprese salad), and Fresh Peaches in Champagne.\u00a0 My mother tore out the page, primarily because it was \u201ctomato season\u201d and she thought the salad sounded delicious.<a href=\"https:\/\/vivaciouschef.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/glamour_dinner.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-585 alignright\" title=\"glamour_dinner\" src=\"https:\/\/vivaciouschef.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/glamour_dinner-784x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"376\" height=\"491\" srcset=\"https:\/\/vivaciouschef.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/glamour_dinner-784x1024.jpg 784w, https:\/\/vivaciouschef.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/glamour_dinner-229x300.jpg 229w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 376px) 100vw, 376px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Not too many months later, mom met a young man of Italian heritage.\u00a0 A few dates went well; It was time to cook for him.\u00a0 Looking through her cookbooks and files for ideas, she came on your page and realized she had the entire menu.\u00a0 She made the dishes exactly as printed, with one exception: instead of veal, she used boneless, skinless chicken breasts.\u00a0 Dad has always said of that dinner that he \u201carrived completely smitten with her.\u00a0 I left deeply in love\u201d.\u00a0 Not too many more months later, they were married.\u00a0 They celebrate their wedding anniversary next month.<\/p>\n<p>The entire meal has become a family favorite, our \u201cspecial\u201d meal.\u00a0 Mom has never used anything but chicken, and we prefer a Sauvignon Blanc to champagne, but otherwise it\u2019s still the original recipes you published.\u00a0 The page has been saved, and brought out at least twice a year for as long as I can remember.\u00a0 My dad eventually had it laminated before it completely disintegrated.\u00a0 Though difficult to tell from the scan, this page bears all the earmarks of being well loved.\u00a0 It wears them proudly; like battle scars, those creases and stains and folds all have their own story.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s since been passed on and shared with many family members, friends, and especially dinner guests, who invariably demand the recipe.\u00a0 It was the first dinner my sister made for her husband, and I\u2019ve made it for my boyfriend, too.\u00a0 And mom still reads Glamour.<\/p>\n<p>Thank you again for the important part you have played in our family story.<\/p>\n<p>Sincerely,<br \/>\nSamantha Riccio<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Our family has grown up eating this meal. It it still the recipe that&#8217;s used for fettuccine alfredo, it is still the chicken I crave when I miss home. It is one of the first memories I have of cooking, and I remember learning to cook with mom.
